After 7 years where I began our first class in 2014 by sharing space with Clayton Martial Arts School on Rosebury Ave, followed by a year teaching online in 2020, and the entire year of 2021 in Taiwan. Looking back, the past 2 years of living and teaching in between United States, Taiwan and Dubai has brought me much unique experiences and new insights. The deep calling for inner peace is on a global scale, and we should not ignore it anymore.

After my return in 2022, I realized a private space where we can do deep work is needed, and so Southwood Studio was born. I did not plan to move, but here is where I landed. After 15 years of living oversea, I learned to trust my inner voice, and that is what I would like to share with you. Yoga is a path for coming home to ourselves. Welcome home.

Meet You in Southwood Studio

Kayla’s private bridal ceremony

October, 2022

What would make a good experience for me?

  • When I go to a class, I can move and breathe comfortably in a space that is big, but with fewer people. (We have a big space, and only take 7-9 people based on the class setting)

  • I can practice in a sacred space where the owner is deeply cared for. The space would be cleaned, sanitized and with good intention every time before my arrival. (We cleaned the space one hour before each session including the floor, shared space, air quality, room temperature on physical and energetic level.)

  • Practice with an experienced, attentive, and mindful instructor who can help me move safely, and correctly so I can make sure the more yoga I practice, the more center and stronger I will become.

  • Practice in a quiet environment, so I can experience tranquility and rest in deep relaxation.

  • Be able to work with my instructor based on my schedule for my personal needs and goal.

In-Studio Guideline

  • Proof of vaccination is required and only needed to be show once.

  • Book beforehand is required

Each class is limited to 7-9 people only, we suggested you book the spot asap if you have class pass or monthly unlimited membership for, we couldn't guarantee the space. All cancellations must be made at least 3 hours prior to the start of class. Failure to do so will result in no refund. Sorry.

  • Be sure to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to class start time. Late entry will not be permitted, and there is no refund. Thank you.

  • You will receive a text message from us 2 days before the session with detailed instructions.

Good to know before class

  • Health Conditions & Injuries:
If you are coming to your practice with a pre-existing health condition or injury, please discuss this with your instructor prior to practice. Accommodation may be made and modifications given where available.

  • Golden Rule:
Listen to your body and do what feels right to you! Rest as needed.

  • Women’s Conditions:
If you are on your menstrual cycle, is it recommended to avoid practicing inversions. Be gentle with yourself and honor your body. This is typically a time that needs rest and recovery.

  • Pregnancy: We do not currently have Prenatal classes on our schedule… however, many of our slower classes can be a perfect fit for expecting individuals. If you wish to explore a practice, please consult with your OB or Midwife prior to practicing, as well as sending us an email on appropriate classes to attend.

  • Shoes: Shoes are to be left outside of the studio practice area before entering shared practice space.

  • Food: Tradition recommends having your last meal 2 hours prior to asana practice. If you need to eat, please eat lightly. It is better for your practice.

  • Water: Only closed containers are allowed in the studio practice space so please bring a water bottle if needed. We also provide water in the studio.
